- 1 cup whole green gram with skin

- 1 onion

- 1/4 inch piece ginger

- 5 green chillies

- 1 teaspoon (heaped) salt

- 2 tablespoons raw rice

- For topping:
- 3/4 cup finely cut onions

- 1 tablespoons finely cut green chillies

- 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

- 1 teaspoon oil
