Ingredients

  • 1 cup bengal gram dhal
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup sour thick curd (skimmed)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste,
  • 1/2 teaspoon green chilli paste
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon oil, heated
  • 1/2 teaspoon cooking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cut coriander leaves

Directions

  1. 1. Soak dhal for 1 1/2 hours. Grind into thick paste of coarse rawa consistency. Mix salt, curd, ginger paste, chilli paste and turmeric powder to that.
  2. 2. Finally add heated oil and cooking soda to the batter. Mix well and steam like idli in greased plain large idli plate.
  3. 3. After cooking, cut 10 big pieces using sharp knife. Arrange on a serving plate. Sprinkle chilli powder and cut coriander leaves on top.
  4. 4. Enjoy your besan dhokla with mint or coriander chutney.
