A Danish cookies made of egg, butter and flour.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, scalded, 1 cup butter
  • 2 teaspoons salt, 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 cakes yeast
  • 1/4 cup lukewarm water
  • 4 eggs, well beaten
  • 4 1/2 cups sifted flour

Directions

  1. 1. Scald milk; add butter, salt and sugar; stir until butter melts.
  2. 2. When lukewarm, add yeast softened in lukewarm water; add beaten eggs.
  3. 3. Beat flour into mixture. Let rise in warm place 6 hours.
  4. 4. Chill until ready to use.
  5. 5. Form quickly into small balls 1/3 size of muffin pans.
  6. 6. Brush tops with melted butter; let rise until doubled in bulk.
  7. 7. Bake in hot oven (400oF.) 20 minutes.
  8. 8. Twist strips of brioche dough lightly and tie in a bowknot.
  9. 9. Bring the ends down and press to the pan.
