- 1/4 cup split chick peas (chana dal)

- 2 tablespoons oil

- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi)

- 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida (hing)

- 3 green chilies, chopped

- 6 curry leaves

- 1 medium head cabbage, chopped

- 1 tablespoon jaggery, crushed

- Salt to taste

- 2 tablespoons freshly desiccated coconut for garnish

- 2 tablespoons coriander sprigs, chopped for garnish
