There are many variations on the rose cocktail. This recipe, however, is the original classic French rose cocktail that originated in France around the early 1900s.
 

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. dry gin
  • 1 oz. cherry brandy
  • 1 oz. kirsch liqueur
  • Dash cherry syrup
  • Maraschino cherry for garnish
  • Lemon peel for garnish

Directions

  1. 1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with crushed ice. Add the dry gin, cherry brandy, Kirsch liqueur and cherry syrup to the cocktail shaker.
  2. 2. Cover the cocktail shaker and shake gently for 10 to 15 seconds. Don't shake too hard; you will "bruise" (alter) the gin.
  3. 3. Strain the contents of the cocktail shaker into a chilled cocktail glass.
  4. 4. Drop a maraschino cherry into the cocktail and garnish the glass with a twisted lemon peel and serve.
