  <ingredients>1 cup of water
Salt to taste (a pinch or none if on salt-free diet)
1 tablespoon arrowroot powder
1 1/2 teaspoons maple flavoring
1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
1 teaspoon sweetener or to taste</ingredients>

<preparation-steps>In at least a two cup glass measuring cup (or other microwave-safe glass container), mix water, salt, and arrowroot powder together until thoroughly blended.

Microwave for 1 minute or until hot. Stir thoroughly (the arrowroot powder tends to settle at first like cornstarch does).

Keep microwaving in one minute intervals, stirring after each, to keep the powder dissolved in the water. Continue this sequence until it boils.

Note: watch carefully, it can and will boil over!

Remove from microwave, stir again, and let it cool to room temperature.

When cool, stir in flavourings and sweetener. Pour into a bottle and refrigerate.

Note: This stays together quite well but still benefits from a little shake before serving.</preparation-steps>
