Another great project for young cooks, taffy pulls are a great excuse for a party and almost an American right of passage.
 

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 2 ounces (squares) chocolate, melted
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter

Directions

  1. 1. Cook the sugar, syrups, salt and water over low heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
  2. 2. Cook to 288 degrees F, soft crack stage. Add the chocolate and pour into a greased pan.
  3. 3. When cool enough to pull, spread with peanut butter. Fold over and pull the taffy enough to mix the peanut butter thoroughly with the candy.
  4. 4. Cut into pieces and wrap each piece in waxed paper.
