These delightful little squares filled with sugary tastes have a texture that is highlighted by crunchy nuts. They are a delight to everyone who tries them.
 

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • For pecan filling:
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups corn syrup
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/2 cups chopped pecans

Directions

  1. 1. Note: Walnut Pie Squares are just as delicious and are made by substituting walnuts for the pecans.
  2. 2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a baking dish, 15 1/2 by 10 1/2 by 1 inch, with cooking spray.
  3. 3. Beat flour, butter, sugar and salt in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed until crumbly (mixture will be dry). Press firmly in pan. Bake about 20 minutes or until light golden brown.
  4. 4. To make pecan filling: Combine the eggs, sugar, corn syrup, butter and vanilla in a large bowl and mix until well blended. Stir in pecans.
  5. 5. Pour filling into baked crust; spread evenly. Bake for 25 minutes or until filling is set.
  6. 6. Let cool completely then cut into squares.
