This decadent soft caramel candy recipe is really easy to make with mouth watering results. Great for dipping apples or cutting into individual candies.
 

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/3 cups (1 pound) light brown sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 can (15 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. 1. Melt the butter; add the salt and brown sugar, stir to combine. Mix in the corn syrup and condensed milk; cook, stirring constantly, until it reaches 235 degrees F (soft ball stage). Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  2. 2. Generously oil a nine inch square pan. Pour the candy into it and let it cool. If you are going to dip apples cook the candy to 245 degrees F (hard ball stage).
  3. 3. Let the candy set completely before cutting it into squares.
