Whether its to top bread pudding or cheese cake, a quick and easy, rich and creamy, vanilla sauce comes in handy for a lot of different uses.
 

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Pinch of salt

Directions

  1. 1. Mix the sugar and cornstarch in a sauce pot. Add the water and stir to combine.
  2. 2. Place the pot over medium high heat and bring to the boil, stirring constantly. Boil for five minutes, remove from heat; add butter, vanilla and salt.
  3. 3. Stir until butter is melted, serve hot.
